Comments from the darkness where only a den of iniquity exists or perhaps I'm in the White House.
The Imperial President Strikes Back
Published on July 15, 2005 By Chuck In Current Events
The President of the United States will be holding a special news conference to discuss the Karl Rove situation among other items. Here is his press secretary, Sponge Scott McClellan, coming to the podium to begin denials;

Sponge: Good Morning, it has been a hectic week and remember, no Karl Rove questions since we are committed to let the investigation continue unimpeded since that wasn't done before while we were touting his innocence. Times change.

Press: What is the White House relationship to Robert Novak who actually printed the name of the CIA operative?

Sponge: The White House has always enjoyed Mr. Novak's columns and the President was happy to extend him a government contract for over $125,000 to continue that good work.

Press: Are you saying Novak was paid by this administration to disseminate your ideas leading to the outing of a CIA agent?

Sponge: Not at all, that unfortunate outing was the result of a sloppy clerical error committed by an E-2 who is now on his way to the Attu Islands. No big deal.

Press: Unfortunately, it is a violation of Title 50, the Intelligence Identities Protection Act for anyone to name an agent, operative, informant or source. So how is it not a big deal.

Sponge: (writing feverishly away, stops) What was the name of that Act again? The Intelligence Identities Protection Act. Okay, no problem, we'll have the President take it off the books this afternoon and it won't be a problem anymore. Bingo.....

Press: I don't believe this....the President cannot just submerge a law whenever. This can only occur with Congress through powers delegated by the Constitution.

Sponge: Oh, yeah!! We froze the Reagan and His Daddy's presidential records didn't we?

Press: When will the President be here? (he comes walking in onto the podium)

PIB: President In A Bubble here. Good morning, everyone, and isn't life wonderful when you omit so much of it?

Press: Mr. President, do you still have faith in Karl Rove?

PIB: Who?? Oh, turd blossom, you mean. Of course, he's only getting a few riled up. Happened all the time in Texas. Too many people got their bowels in an uproar.

Press: What is your position on him assisting to out a CIA agent?

PIB: Gosh, I love the smell of controversy in the morning when its recognizable to me. Been having these awful allergy attacks and think liberals may have something to do with it.

Press: Could you answer the question, Mr. President.

PIB: Yes, I don't believe turd blossom would do that without my express order.

Press: Did you place that order?

PIB: Of course, ham on rye with a touch of mayo and maybe a couple of Lone Star beers on the side.

Press: No, order Karl Rove to assist in outing a CIA agent?

PIB: Hey, I may be dumb, but I am not stupid. Karl can do his own dirty work, thats what he was hired for. All I ask is he doesn't get the press to ask me if I still have confidence in him or want to fire him and all that stuff.

Press: Do you?

PIB: Didn't I just answer that?

Press: Your popularity rating has gone down, Americans are questioning your honesty, Iraqi terror attacks have increased insurmountably and unemployment is up again.

PIB: Yep, now what's your point?

Press: Could you please comment on these?

PIB: Okay....my popularity is always high since I write the polls; my honesty being questioned-impossible since I don't have that much; Iraqis should just stop this crap and let us build up the corporate structure need for Americans to own their country. Then the influential ones could be paid off and peace would reign. Unemployment means people out of work who don't want to work anyway. Its disgusting and not the American way.

Press: Will you testify under oath regarding the Karl Rove accusations?

PIB: Puleasssssssseeee....I am the oath so why double dipp? Look, Alberto told me I make the laws since I say them; and then we'll get him over to the Supreme Court to back me up on everything. Just keep Dan Quayle away cause I don't want comparisons to him.

Press: Mr. President, don't you have the slightest moral qualm about what you are doing?

PIB: As opposed to what? I am the best trained corporate man in the business who happens to find the White House each day, rain or shine except when I'm away. The American people love me; in fact, just the other day I was in Ohio and all those Librul papers said laid off workers would be protesting me since over 3,000,000 lost their jobs to outsourcing. Not that way at all..why Laura and I did such a haul on all those wonderful fruit, vegetables and eggs people were throwing to us. Never saw such big tomaters in my life, but that one egg was a bit smelly. Gave it to my Secret Service man to eat the next morning just to see if it was poisoned.

Press: Okay, Mr. President. I think we have everything in perspective. Will you make a statement of support for Karl Rove?

PIB: Who??? Turd blossom....it depends on how deep he is in the doo doo. Bad-turn my back so fast he'll hear only a high wind like Ken Lay did; not so bad, he can come back to the office and we can drink Grape Nehis together and chat about the good one just put over.

I just love the way I operate; and everybody believes me. Two hooves good; 4 hooves better.

For the last time get a clue o foolish one! How many times and how many ways must you be told/shown that Plame was NOT an undercover agent. She said this herself during a Times interview. Even the independent prosecutor does NOT believe Rove is guilty of a crime. He said as much outright. "You" are NOT the target of our investigation. Does that ring a bell?

Please, drmiler, be cool!! Neither am I foolish nor need to get a clue? Just a concerned American exercising my constitutional rights. I have earned my spurs in war and society. You will always be treated with respect and civility; that's all I ask from you. If you ever desire to have someone sincerely hear your argument, then cease the condescending remarks and labels. It simply doesn't work for me and assumably, others. We share a common concern with the safety and security of this great nation and your barbs should be directed towards those who opposed this, in your eyes, and not the messengers of various viewpoints. If counterarguments bother you, then try something else rather than the current approach. If you can't handle the library, don't burn the books.

Whether Plame was an undercover agent is an issue for the special prosecutor to determine. She was a CIA agent and that agency thinks very unkindly of anyone revealing the identification of their operatives. Years of layering and identities have now went askew due to Robert Novak revealing Plame and possibly jeopardizing other operatives and informants as well. Guilt or innocence is not determined by the special prosecutor who investigates and presents evidence to a grand jury to determine whether an indictment is warranted. A trial is then held in lieu of a plea agreement, if offered, where a jury hears the evidence presented to cite innocence or guilt in the matter.

At the least, Rove and others can be cited for unethical behavior which outed a CIA employee who had worked prior or then on undercover assignments. Regardless, the President has qualified and then requalified a statement to fire any employee to leaks classified information in regards to Rove which sets a precarious example and lowers his own credibility. The recent State Department Intelligence memo released and seen by then SecState Colin had a paragraph classified secret in regards to Plame's name. Secondly, recent White House and RNC blitz to discredit former Ambassador Wilson is not helping their case any, but seeking only to diss him in the court of public opinion. Its time to let the investigation run its course and then evaluate the results. Until then, we are all concerned by the dirty politics Rove has contributed to and the multitude of stories perpetrated in order to cover his either providing the name or leading to the discover of a CIA agent.

11 CIA agents came forward today in a unified display concerning the release of Plame's name. Obviously, they did this with the consent of their superiors and at great peril towards an administration which values retribution as a valid political weapon.l

Think about this....former CIA agents and media groups submit their stories to the CIA for clearance prior to publishing. The Abu Ghraib story by Time was submitted not only to the Department of Defense, but the CIA beforehand. How then did Robert Novak get away with outing a CIA agent in print without a majority of the onus not falling upon him? Somewhere in there there is a dirty smell and its only result is damage to our national security and a ominous effect upon our fighting men and women in Iraq.

I care about this if you don't which can be construed by your apparent condescending labels. We both have much to learn from each other, but it is apparent you don't share this opinion. Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that rather than you disregarding civility in attempting to prove a point.

Thanks for posting.

That's the whole point Chuck. Plame was not an agent, she was a "self-professed" analyst. She's the one that said she was an analyst. And I apologize for being crude. The remark was typed after a lenghty battle over the "same" subject with col gene, who "refuses" to see any point but his.

Until then, we are all concerned by the dirty politics Rove has contributed to and the multitude of stories perpetrated in order to cover his either providing the name or leading to the discover of a CIA agent.

You see, you say one thing and then change your story. First you say we should wait until the investigation is over and then evaluate the results. And then you say the above which is totally opposite from your first remark. I will say this. Lets wait until they're done with the investigation before we lay blame or assign guilt. "If" Rove is found guilty at that point then let's fry his butt!

Ironically, one can work for the CIA in theor own DC building and be undercover-only the CIA knows. However, Executive Order 50 requires the Presidents to suspend the clearance of any suspected employee who reveals classified information to an uncleared source until such time internal investigation proves otherwise. The President did not accomplish this for over two years until a special prosecutor was appointed. Instead, great lengths were gone to to deny leaks, etc, without adherence to Executive Order 50.

My second statement is the obvious. What has the White House went to such lengths to provide spin for Karl Rove instead of letting the process take its course. They denied it had occurred and then switched gears to show Plame was not undercover; and now adopt "well, her neighbors knew she was CIA." Like any other possible criminal act, it should be regarded with silence until the investigation is over. This also includes the President of the United States and his staff since he is the highest officer of the land. Instead the misinformation to protect Rove is endless from the White House and favorablly inclined media. Next, you will probably see a movie!!

There were 11 instances of classified leaks according to a House investigation and no action was taken by the President to investigate as mandate under Executive Order 50 even when Plame's business cover was also identified. The damage done to our national security and intelligence collection process is not within our purveyance now, but CIA agents are coming forward with a simple message to the White House and others: Shut Up! There is also possiblity the Espinage Act of 1917 could be employed as an possible indictment as well. Regardless, there is a serious smell emanating from the White House regarding this and their inability to truly leave it alone until the investigation is over.

Thanks for posting....
